Tips to Grow Your Ministry
|
|
Greetings,
When I first began training ministry
leaders, I was clear that there were three aspects of having a successful
ministry and if one of these three aspects were off, creating a thriving
ministry is very difficult.
Then I heard John Arnott, the vessel The Lord used for the Toronto Blessing
(along with his wife) speak on the Inward, Upward and Outward journeys that we
all must undergo. It resonated so deeply with me because it finally gave me the
language for what I already deeply understood.
You must master the inward journey, then the upward journey and lastly the
outward journey. If any one of these pieces are not in proper place and order,
your ministry will suffer, which means the portion of the Lord’s flock He has
assigned you will suffer.
Here is a mini-teaching on how to master these three aspects or dimensions of
your ministry. Enjoy!

Here are
some pointers to guide you in growing your ministry outside of the local church:
Last week, I
shared a few steps to maximizing the power of teleclasses. There is
another amazing benefit to doing teleclasses, especially free monthly offerings.
They are great list-builders.
Here are a few steps to show you the way:
-
Build your elist diligently. Your
elist is your gold. Make sure you are collecting the contact information of
your audiences, book readers, and those you meet along your way.
-
Ask if they would like to be placed
on your list in exchange for you being on their list. You can do this live
or via a follow-up email.
-
Make sure you have a database
program that has the capability of doing html forms. Constant Contact,
Icontact, Aweber, or 1Shopping Cart are examples. One that is an
auto-responder is best.
-
Have a free giveaway on your website
that people get automatically delivered to them if they fill in their name
and email address to keep in touch.
-
This freebie should be an ebook,
audio recording, special report or something else that you create that does
not involve giving away your time. Do NOT giveaway a free coaching or
consultation session. This will throw off your ability to have your time
honored later.

Knowing Your Value
|
Ericka's Speaking & Training |
|
Greetings,
I shared in last week’s ezine about
making peace with charging for the value of your work. If you missed last week’s
ezine, you can read it
here. Ministers must release any hang-ups in this area so we can truly
represent Jesus upon the earth.
Once you make peace with activating your scriptural right to make a living
from your ministry, the next step is to be clear about your value in a tangible
way. While you may already be clear that what you bring to the table is
valuable, how do you begin to quantify that value in a way that helps
financially sustain your ministry.
You do this by establishing an hourly value level for yourself. What is your
time worth per hour? This is a different number than what you make in a secular
job because it also incorporates the intangibles of what you bring to the table.
Here are some steps to help you quantify your value:
-
Make a
separate monthly budget for both your ministry and your personal/family
need. Use a
spreadsheet program to do this so you can change the numbers around and
easily see what you need per month.
-
Divide
those numbers by the number of full-time or part-time hours you have to work
your ministry.
This will give you an hourly rate for what you need to
receive so your ministry can produce at the level for which it is called.
-
Assess if
this number honors all the years of sacrifice, being broken, emptied and
stripped, and the countless hours you have spent learning the lessons of the
Lord. This
aspect is important because if you don’t honor this aspect of your value in
what you ask for, you are going below your resentment factor and it can
cause you to resent your ministry work.
-
Use this hourly
value as a way to determine how you should be spending your time, setting
your rates and fees and even what parts of your ministry that it would be
wise to delegate so your time can be spent in the most valuable way.
This should give you an hourly rate
from which to work. As strange as it may feel to put a number to your value,
it is critical as you move forward so your mind can be fully transformed around
honoring what you bring to your ministry. I will share the key to actually
receiving this number or close to it in next week’s ezine. So…stay tuned…
Love, Ericka
