Greetings,

“Can I pick your brain?”
“Can I have a few minutes of your time?”
“I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on…”
“What do you think about…?”
“I wanted to run something by you…”

How you reply to each of these questions is a great indicator of the level of value you might be leaking or placing in the hands of people who may not be honoring your value and expertise.

This is one of the reasons ministers, who carry the jewels of God, all-too-often end up struggling and suffering financially.

Here is a mini-teaching on the key to stop leaking value. Enjoy!

Here are some pointers to guide you in growing your ministry outside of the local church:

I have been sharing about the power of teleclasses. Now that you have a recording, what do you do with it? How can you leverage it in the least amount of time? The answer is to re-purpose your content.

Here are a few steps to show you the way:

1. Once you complete your teleclass or audio recording, you can transcribe it into an ebook or several articles.

2. Take those articles line-by-line and share snippets of it as Facebook updates, tweets and across social networking.

3. Submit those same articles to article databases.

4. Keep a file of article notes so you always have an endless stream of content to share with your flock.

5. If you really want to create order in sending out your message, create a content schedule. A content schedule is a weekly list of topics on which you will write on and share with others.

Connecting with Your Heart

One of the biggest challenges for ministers called to build their ministries outside of the local church structure is how to still connect with people heart-to-heart. This becomes even more critical the more you use technology to share with others.

Here are some steps to help you quantify your value:
 

1. Make sure your heart is ready. Sharing your message with others when you aren’t face-to-face requires that your heart is ready to be unconditional in your love of people.
    

2. I often see social networking as a place where ministers vent their ugly anger about the state of the church. Once you put something online, you can’t take it back. Make sure you are always a beacon of light and love so you properly represent Jesus. Heal any unclean hurts, pains and rejections from your past.
    

3. Always provide solutions when you present an issue so people can see your heart and what you have to offer. Remember, you are not sharing for the sake of sharing. You are seeking to touch His lost sheep and elevate those already part of the Body of Christ so we can manifest the promises of scripture in our lives.
    

4. Open up your heart. Be willing to love, encourage, acknowledge and celebrate with people online. The Lord told me one day that there is a spiritual footprint that people can feel even through technology and it was critical that I open my heart and allow them in as well as give love as much as possible.
    

5. Use the phone as much as you can. With new international technologies such as Skype and ooVoo, you can easily connect “eyeball-to-eyeball” with others across the world. When you meet someone online and feel a connection and when the Lord leads you, feel free to set up a time you all can learn more about each other.
    

6. Make sure you have some downtime. With so many ways to stay tuned into people, make sure you take some time to back away from your computer, turn off your power and have a chance to minister with people face-to-face.
    

7. Don’t leak too much value even online. Give away just enough so people can see what you offer and feel led to contact you to connect and learn more.
